Province “Mary Gate of the Dawn”

Scotland ,Holland, Iceland, Lithuania and Germany

The mission in this delegation started with the first foundation in Panevezys, Lithuania. The Institute has been working in this country from the beginning of 2003. Now, just ten years after the liberation from Soviet domination, the Church can rise again. Once the IVE community was aware of the great possibilities of working with children and youth, the house Saint Louis Gonzaga was founded, and now it is the Junior Seminary of the delegation. In September 2004, the first mission in the Netherlands was founded in Brunssum. Shortly after our priests were assigned to some parishes, and the activities began: Oratory, Catechism, courses of Catholic formation, prayer groups, services to the families of the Third Order. In January 2009 a new mission started in the north of the country, in Alkmaar. In June 2011, our priests were asked by Monsignor Wiertz, bishop of Roermond, to leave Brunssum and move to Bunde. The bishop assigned 4 parishes to the Institute. Our main pastoral work in these parishes consists in teaching catechism, taking care of groups of children and teenagers and giving spiritual care to the sick. In January 2005, the delegation started a mission in Iceland, a Lutheran country with 330,000 inhabitants, among which only about 12,000 are Catholic. The Delegation serves the Catholic Church in Iceland in St. Joseph’s Church in Hafnarfjörður (Reykjavik, the capital). The vast majority of Catholics in Iceland are foreigners from Poland, the Philippines, Lithuania, and also some Spanish-speaking people. The pastoral work of the IVE Mission in Iceland is focused on Catechism, visit to the houses, the oratory and the pastoral care of the Hispanic and Lithuanian communities at the Christ the King Cathedral in Reykjavík. In 2009 the delegation started a mission in Germany helping to build up a spiritual center and assisting different parishes before getting in charge, in 2010, of the parish “Holy Family” in Rüdersdorf (near Berlin). Near Leipzig (Saxony, eastern Germany), an association belonging to our Third Order is in charge of a house of charity helping people to be integrated in society. In September, 2015, the delegation founded a second mission in Germany, in the diocese of Eichstätt. From September 2016, the missionaries will take care of the pilgrimage church at Mariahilfberg in Neumarkt. The apostolate with pilgrims is especially focused on hearing confessions, promoting the devotion to Mary and working with the youth. The priests will also provide assistance in the parish of "Our Beloved Lady" in Neumarkt.
